This Canada Day you can learn more about some of Barry’s Bay’s earliest contributors.

The Station Keepers are unveiling 22 new biographies of historical people. Posters to honour them will be hung at The Railway Station.

Station Keepers member Vicky Cybulski-Blank says they represent a mix of different people, including farmers and merchants. They lived in the area from the 1880s to 1920s, roughly, when Barry’s Bay was a railway community.

“I believe people will get goosebumps when they read some of the stories of these people and how they survived and how they made it and the work that they had to do,” she says.

The Station Keepers, the group that works to preserve and promote The Railway Station, will be at the red building from noon to 3 p.m. on Canada Day to talk with guests. The building will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And Mike Kelly will perform music from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
