A Madawaska Valley woman has been honoured as Attraction Ontario’s Tourism Champion of the Year award.
Claudia Van Wijk won the award for her work with the Madawaska Kanu Centre and Owl Rafting.
The announcement was made during Attraction Ontario’s Annual General Meeting.
Another Valley resident, Margaret Maloney, won the Colonel Don Dailley Lifetime Achievement Award.
According to the Ontario Highlands Tourism Organization, Van Wijk and Maloney are active Ottawa Valley residents and stand out as champions in Ontario’s Highlands.
