Madawaska Valley Township reminds residents of snow removal rules

With the year’s first major snowstorm in the books, Madawaska Valley Township wants to remind residents of a few rules around removing snow.

Municipal by-laws state that no one should park a vehicle on any part of a municipal street that will interfere with snow removal. They say that this creates unsafe conditions for snow ploughs and general traffic.

Pushing or blowing snow onto public roadways is also forbidden, as well as parking on dead-end streets. The township says these are places where snow ploughs will turn around.

In addition to traffic, residents with children are asked to talk to them about hazards that surround winter driving, such as reduced visibility and stopping distances. They also want children to be aware of snow removal operations carried out by the township.
