An armed robbery has resulted in charges for a Pembroke Man.

Members of Killaloe, Upper Ottawa Valley and Renfrew OPP detachments responded to a call about an armed robbery at a pharmacy on Saturday. No injuries were reported, but the robber fled the scene in a stolen vehicle with what police say was a quantity of prescription drugs. OPP officers with the canine unit and emergency response team were able to locate the man on Rapid Road in Whitewater Region Township after a foot chase.

As a result, a 34 year old resident of Pembroke has been charged with a number of offences. The suspect is charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, and flight from a peace officer. He is also charged with two counts possession of Schedule 1 substance, two counts of failure to comply, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. The accused has also been charged in relation to several thefts from vehicles and possession and use of stolen credit cards in the area.

The accused will remain in custody until a video appearance at the Pembroke Court on April 14th.
