No Fishing License Needed During Mother’s Day Weekend

Give the gift of fishing.

Sure you can make mom breakfast in bed this coming Mother’s Day, or buy her a nice bouquet of flowers, but nothing says love like a day of fishing with your mom and the whole family.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has you covered. This weekend for Mother’s Day is one of four times when people can fish without a license in the province.

Normal catch limits apply and bass is not in season currently, but anyone wishing to give fishing a try can do it both this Saturday and Sunday without a permit.

This year may be a bit trickier about where to set up as many traditional fishing spots could still be under water. Officials urge people to use great caution next to waterways as rivers are still fast moving.

There are also a large number of boating restrictions currently in place but those may be eased by the weekend.

News Even though I hail from Montreal, I'm not a bad person! My parents tell me I was born with a microphone in my hand. From recording music with my band to doing stand up comedy to hosting weddings and corporate events and doing radio, I treat a microphone better than some of my family members (they know who they are). Over the last few years I have had the chance to host a radio show on CJLO 1690 AM and complete an internship at CJAD 800 in Montreal. These experiences have given me the chance to interview some of the biggest musical acts such as Charlie Puth, Scott Helman, Alt J, Our Lady Peace, The Sheepdogs, Glass Tiger, Theory of a Deadman and Colin James to name a few. Needless to say I'm a music nut and love talking to people. If you see a lanky redhead walking around, don't be shy and come say hi!
