3…2…1… Action!

The City of Pembroke is familiar with those words as last week, the city was used as a movie set. The Hallmark Channel were there producing a Christmas movie called Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe. Store owner of Dot., Renae Rotblatt, had front row seats to the action as she mentions her store, on the main strip, was the only one used to shoot indoor scenes. She says it was crazy to see a film crew of 15 people with lights and cameras crammed into her tiny commerce.

Her store had to go through changes in order to fit in with the Christmas theme. She said that they kept her clothing and displays but added a lot of Christmas decorations and changed the store’s name to Charlene’s. Although she had no say on what they could do to the store, she does state that the team was very polite in asking her if they could change and move certain things around.

According to Rotblatt, the movie crew had been in Pembroke for a couple of weeks filming the bulk of their scenes at the Grey Gables Inn, but used the downtown area from October 18th to the 21st. She says the movie should air November 23rd on the Hallmark Channel and the W Network as well.

Did she get to keep a movie set souvenir? Yes she did. Rotblatt said that she got to keep her fictitious store’s sign which reads Charlene’s, though she doesn’t plan on changing the name of her actual store anytime soon.
