South Algonquin Resident Loses $3,000 After Computer Fraud

A South Algonquin resident was scammed out of $3,000 after someone posed as a Microsoft employee.

Killaloe OPP responded to the fraud call in South Algonquin. The complainant said the computer fraud happened when the person claimed to work for Microsoft. The scammer asked for remote access to the complainant’s computer. After getting access, the scammer got into the complainant’s bank account and defrauded him of $3,000.

Killaloe OPP remind you to never give of personal information to unconfirmed sources. They add to always question the person if you’re unsure of who they are and what they want.

An investigation into the fraud is on-going.
