Barry’s Bay Beach Open This Week After Being Closed Last Week

After being closed last week because of high bacterial count, the Barry’s Bay beach will be open this week.

The beach was posted as being unsafe last week after the Renfrew County and Health Unit recevied tests that showed the E. coli counts in the water were higher than the Provincial safety standard.

This week, however, the beach will be open for business as usual.

Public Health Inspector Greg Kirke said the high E. coli count was because of the local wildlife swimming in the water. The animals’ fecal matter caused the problem.
