Upper Ottawa Valley OPP have charged a man after he crashed into a school bus.
It happened this morning at the intersections of Portage Road and Petawawa Boulevard in Petawawa. The bus was going westbound through the intersection, while an SUV was going eastbound. The SUV attempted to turn north bound onto Petawawa Boulevard when the crash happened.
21 year old Kyle Parker of Petawawa was driving the SUV and was charged with left turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision under the Highway Traffic Act.
There were no reported injuries to anyone on the bus or the Parker. The SUV was towed from the scene.
With school back in session, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are reminding you be careful when driving in school zones and in neighbourhoods because of the increase in pedestrians, cyclists and school buses on the roads. They say a zero-tolerance policy is in place for any driver who disobeys school bus safety laws.
