Drowning Being Investigated Near Minden

OPP are investigating a drowning that happened during a University of Toronto Survey Camp at Gull Lake.

Gull Lake is about 25 kilometres southwest of Haliburton, near Minden. OPP Sargent Peter Lean says the incident happened around 4:45 PM. Reports say the 18 year old victim was separated from his group when he was in the water and drowned.

The victim had already been taken out of the water when emergency crews arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital after life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.

OPP have no released the victim’s name. They also did not say whether he was a student at the University.

The OPP have launched an investigation into the death.
