Upper Ottawa Valley OPP put in overtime during Labour Day long weekend.

The campaign was designed to catch distracted drivers, but they also focused on the other “big 4” things they look for when out patrolling: distracted driving, aggressive driving, lack of occupant restraint and impaired driving.

From August 31st to September 3rd, OPP laid 61 charges with six of them being for distracted driving. 39 of the 61 were for speeding. They also charged one driver under the stunt driving legislation for excessive speed and had that person’s driver’s license suspended and vehicle impounded. They also charged one driver for impaired driving.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Marine Unit also made 10 charges during the long weekend on the waterways, including charges for boating safety and equipment deficiencies.
