Wreck Rescue Demonstration for Distracted Driving Campaign Set for Friday at MVDHS

The Leave the Phone Alone campaign will be treating students from MVDHS to a live demonstration from our local emergency services.

Fire and EMS crews from the Madawaska Valley will be at the high school this Friday showing extraction from a wrecked vehicle and exactly what goes into that sort of rescue.

It’s part of the township and the school board’s way to pro-actively combat distracted driving by showing students first-hand how dangerous it can be.

The initiative was moved through quickly by municipal council as Councillor Carl Bromwich brought it to the table last month.

The program includes partners with the OPP, local fire and emergency crews, is funded by the MTO and has the support of the county and its public school board.

It’s a lead-up to December’s distracted driving simulator and presentation which is also coming to MVDHS.
