The renovated outdoor rink in Combermere is (almost) ready for its moment

Saturday is a big day in Combermere.

A ribbon cutting and open house is scheduled for the renovated outdoor rink, and a new multi-sport court.

The project included removing the old rink pad and installing a new one with polyethylene boards.

The rink pad was also painted with multi-sport lines to allow for basketball, pickleball, and ball hockey during the non-winter months.

Hannah Gutoskie, Manager of Recreation and Community Services for the Township of Madawaska Valley, told MyBarrysBayNow earlier this year that the project will allow the sole recreational facility in Combermere to be used throughout the year as a multi-sport court, and provide a safe environment for skaters for years to come as an outdoor rink.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and a free hot dog lunch is included.
