Outdoor AED donated to Combermere Community Centre

Madawaska Valley recently received a donation of an outdoor case for the AED unit at the Combermere Community Centre.

Christine Darbyson and the Combermere Martial Arts Club made the donation.

Darbyson said she decided she wanted to get the outdoor case after a loss she experienced deeply affected her.

She said she wanted to ensure that a defibrillator was always available regardless of whether the community centre doors were unlocked or not.

In her remarks to council, Darbyson noted that a beating heart does not follow business hours.

“By placing this power in the open air, we ensure love and rescue are always accessible in our community,” she said.

The township thanked Darbyson for the donation, and said the outdoor AED unit has been installed to the left of the community centre’s main doors.
