Construction is expected to continue in Barry’s Bay downtown in the coming days.

Madawaska Valley Township says the Bay Street and Opeongo Line intersection will be closed between Tuesday, Oct. 3 and Friday, Oct. 6, as new crosswalks will be made.

Detour signs will be posted to help drivers navigate around.

The work that occurred over the two previous weeks was to replace manhole lids on the Opeongo Line.

Construction is happening because Madawaska Valley received a Connecting Links grant to upgrade infrastructure on the Opeongo, in between Mintha Street and Arena Road.

Most of the project’s roughly $360,000 cost will be paid through provincial tax dollars.

Madawaska Valley says drivers can continue to expect delays in the area as the project continues.
