Robert Cherin says somebody has to stand up and straighten things out in Canada.

The candidate of the Veterans Coalition Party says the government is very detached from the average person, and only cares about the regular citizen to levy attacks. He says that Canada has the highest debt of any country on earth and he says the problem lies within the walls of Parliament. He says the VCP will not borrow money from the World Bank, instead opting to reclaim funds from the Canadian Pension Plan. He says if the country can bring back part of the $300 billion the plan has, they can fund the building of things like hospitals and senior centres. Cherin also says the party will take aim at wasteful spending in Parliament. He says he and his party wants to slash parliamentary wages by 20%, impose a 2 year freeze on hiring staff and take away the ability of parliament to vote for raises for themselves. He also says the party will cut the funding of all departments by 10% while expecting things to be run at 95% of the original budget.

Cherin says that he is also working with scientists to develop more efficient ways of removing carbon from the air. He says that hemp plants capture more CO2 than trees do, and also remove harmful contaminants from the soil. He also says he’s working with scientists and experts on developing new technology from hemp that goes beyond consumables. On flooding, Cherin said that water cannot be stopped and only controlled. To this he says that he would like to go back and review the water protection act. Cherin says that this would be done by consulting science and experts.

Cherin says he would invest in senior homes and housing. He says that government housing doesn’t cut it, and criticised the practice of speculative buying of homes by foreign investors, which he says is driving up the costs of homes. He also wants to correct the mismanagement of a lot of institutions in Canada. Above all, he wants Canadian political parties to think outside the box and engage with Canadians on delivering a Canadian mandate, and not one handed down by the UN.

Cherin says the party is made up of veterans from all walks of life. He says that none are professional politicians or rich. He says the party is completely self funded, and doesn’t take donations from corporations or interest groups. A link to the Veteran’s Coalition Party’s Website can be found here.
