The People’s Party of Canada’s Candidate in Renfrew County wants to unleash the potential of the private sector by getting rid of large government.

David Ainsworth says two major reasons he ran was because not at all happy with what’s going on with Ottawa, and that a change of MP was overdue.  He said it was time for fresh ideas after 20 years. Ainsworth says he wants financial control at the national level, less government spending and more private initiative. He says he wants to get the economy going to produce wealth to pay for social programs. He says Canadians over the last 40 years have gotten continually taxed a bit at a time until and it gets expensive to live. He says Canadians have given up a lot of freedom and have let the government take over. He says there’s a cost to this in dollars and personal responsibility. Ainsworth says he wants to let people have more of their own money. He wants to encourage people to start small businesses, give those businesses incentives to add employees, and look for new markets. He says he wants to encourage new families to come to the area and reduce costs. He says the country needs more net producers and people creating stuff. Most importantly, he says, is that people have vision.

Ainsworth says that the People’s Party has been clear that the Climate is changing but believes the science is not settled. He criticized cutting back on fossil fuels, saying that there is very little in the way of planning for what happens afterwards. He says Canada cannot blindly go green without understanding the risks involved. He believes that adaptation to climate change is more important. On flooding, he says that until reviews are completed, he could not speak to the issue intelligently without info on the table. He says he wants to cut back the tax burden for people who are prepared to work. He also says that well intentioned programs take away the incentive to do better, and that people have to do a lot for themselves. Ainsworth says that if people want a fresh voice with vision that comes from an inclusive operation style with a business background, he is willing to take a different approach based on experience.
