The Ottawa Valley Tourism Association is not surprised with the high ranks of local snowmobile trails.
That’s according to Marketing Coordinator Melissa Marquardt. This stems from a recent article in the Intrepid Snowmobiler which ranked trails in the Ottawa Valley as the second best in Ontario. Those in the Madawaska Highlands, which includes Bancroft, Whitney, and Madawaska Valley, came third.
Marquardt says that’s because this is a key sledding region which is close to some big cities and that always gets snow.
Marquardt also says local tourism operators and snowmobile clubs part of District Six of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs contributed to the high ranking.
Snowmobiling generates $1.7-billion for the province every year. Marquardt says about $77-million of that comes from District Six of the OFSC, which includes part of Renfrew, Hastings, and Haliburton counties.
