Renfrew OPP have released the results of its Operation Safe Trucking Initiative.
The province-wide initiative saw officers conducting patrol in transport trucks with a focus on distracted drivers in large commercial vehicles.
Officers from the Renfrew Detachment stopped 28 vehicles as a result, and laid charges for following too closely, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, and unsafe lane changes.

According to the OPP police have responded to more than 6200 commercial vehicle collisions in 2017 alone, while 87 people have lost their lives in these collisions.
