Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are reminding residents to be careful of door-to-door sales people.
According to the detachment, they’ve received calls about potential fraud from residents in the area and are offering some tips to avoid door-to-door fraudsters.
Police say you should always ask for photo ID and get the name of the person, as well as the business or charity they claim to be from. It’s also advised that you never share person information like bills with them.
If you feel unsafe because of a salesperson, you’re encouraged to contact the OPP and provide them a description of the person and any vehicles associated with them.
The OPP encourages residents to use resources to avoid door-to-door fraud as well, like the Consumer Protection Ontario website.
