The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 29 is disappointed with cuts made in the local public school boards 2017-2018 budget.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board approved its over $223-million budget on Monday.
The school board says the budget includes steps to reduce permanent staff, consolidate and close schools, along with other savings to address a $2.5-million deficit.
The local union says the board has decided to make cuts that will impact student success.
These include cuts to secondary school budgets that support classroom learning, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, along with eliminating some teaching and front-line positions, while adding three new administrative positions.
