A rise in fatal pedestrian collisions on rural OPP patrolled roads has prompted police to keep a more watchful eye on pedestrian safety.
The Killaloe OPP says weather, road conditions and lack of daylight are all factors in drivers hitting pedestrians.
Incidents in eastern Ontario are already at last year’s total and police are asking drivers to keep a watchful eye for anyone on the road.

Police are warning pedestrians equally to always check your surroundings and to never assume a driver sees you even if you can see them.
This comes as local police are in the midst of Festive RIDE programs and running focused patrols to catch distracted drivers.
