A section of Highway 41 in Laurentian Valley is closed in both directions at Sawmill Road following a multi-vehicle collision near Shady Nook on Thursday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m., including County of Renfrew paramedics, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP and the Laurentian Valley Fire Department.
Paramedics assessed and transported four patients — two with critical injuries and two with serious injuries — to hospital. Four paramedic crews and two community paramedic response units were called in.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are asking motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
