A major healthcare campaign in Barry’s Bay has officially surpassed its goal.
The St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation says its Growing TogethER campaign raised more than $3.1 million for emergency and outpatient upgrades at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
More than 800 donors contributed to the campaign, including a record-breaking $500,000 donation — the largest in the foundation’s history.
Board chair Cheryl Reid called the campaign “a visionary and ambitious step toward transforming healthcare in our region,” and thanked donors, volunteers and advocates for helping the community exceed expectations.
The funds will be used to expand the hospital’s emergency department by 6,000 square feet and renovate an additional 6,000 square feet in the ambulatory care clinic.
Upgrades will include a new ambulance entrance, a dedicated mental health care area, improved trauma facilities and enhanced infection control measures.
A donor recognition event will be scheduled at a later date.
