Renfrew County Council introduces ‘Committee of the Whole structure’ in 2025

There are some changes in the new year at Renfrew County Council.

The county is starting a new ‘committee of the whole structure’ for council and committee meetings.

Instead of the previous structure with committees ranging from seven to 10 members,

all members of county council will now sit on all committees.

In addition, there will be two representatives from the City of Pembroke on the health committee and community services committees.

County council will also now be held twice a month, instead of the previous single meeting at the end of the month.

Meetings will most often be held the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month (with January being the exception) beginning with county council and followed by committees:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: County council, health, RCHC/community services and corporate services.
  • Fourth Wednesday of the month: County council, development and property committee and operations committee.

Renfrew County says that the new structure is meant to “eliminate duplication between committees and ensure members of county council are involved in all committee discussions.”

The first meeting took place this morning.

County council meetings can be watched on the County of Renfrew’s YouTube page.
