Remember to pay property taxes before Dec. 1 to avoid penalties

Madawaska Valley is asking people to make sure they have paid their property taxes

Due to the Canada Post strike, the mailing of reminder notices is currently paused.

The Township is reminding people that the penalty interest of 1.25% is being added to all unpaid principal, on the first day of each month.

Payments can be made by e-transfer to [email protected], via online or in person banking, or at the Municipal office by cash, card, or currently-dated cheque.

People can also get bills to their inbox by signing up for e-billing on the Madawaska valley website.

The Canada Post strike is now at its two-week mark.

A special mediator brought in to assist in talks between Canada Post and its striking workers announced earlier this week that they are suspending mediation efforts with the two sides far apart on critical issues.
