Driver charged in Pembroke school bus collision 

A school bus driver has been charged in a recent collision between a Renfrew County school bus and a minivan. 

 

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP were called to the collision at the intersection of Pembroke Street East and William Street just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 30).

The school bus was northbound on William Street when it collided with a minivan as it attempted to cross Pembroke Street East. In addition to the driver, there were 14 elementary school-aged students on the school bus. OPP say that Renfrew County paramedics were on scene and “medically cleared all the occupants.”

The occupants of the minivan were not injured, and it was towed from the scene.

The school bus driver, age 66, from Pembroke, faces a Highway Traffic Act charge of failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.
