Health Unit Cautious of Rabies Risk

The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit wants us to watch out for animals with rabies.

Officials say warmer weather brings exposure to animals with the disease.

They say people should not pet or approach animals that are growling or being aggressive.

Rabies can be transmitted to people by saliva through bites, licks and scratches.

The health unit advises keeping pets up-to-date on rabies vaccination, and needs to be notified anytime an animal bite or scratch happens.
