OPP watching out for ‘The Big 4’ during road safety week

Expect more OPP on the roads throughout the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) this coming week.

OPP from the UOV detachment will be taking part in the annual Canada Road Safety Week campaign from May 14 to May 20.

The campaign is in collaboration with Canadian Police Services, which targets high-risk driving.

OPP officers will be highly visible in the area and paying specific attention to “The Big 4”, which are impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

Traditionally a higher volume of traffic occurs over the Victoria Day Long Weekend. UOV Staff Sgt. Sarah Darraugh stated:

“The UOV OPP is committed to Road Safety Week and all motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are asked to do their part in helping keep our roadways safe. Motorists can expect to see a significant police presence on our area roadways with officers working to ensure all road users get to their destination safely.”
