Renfrew County has a new top doctor – and he’s homegrown.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has hired Dr. Jason Morgenstern as its new Medical Officer of Health. He replaces the recently retired Dr. Robert Cushman.
Morgenstern grew up in the county and was educated at Guelph, Western and McMaster universities. He currently works for Halton Region Public Health, where his portfolio includes health protection, disease surveillance and emergency preparedness.
Morgenstern has many accomplishments in health care already.
He is a public health and preventive medicine specialist at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Also, his research on artificial intelligence in public health has been widely published.
Public Health Board Chair Ann Aikens says she believes Morgenstern will provide “excellent public health leadership.”
