Donations to St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation to be matched on Giving Tuesday

Now that Black Friday has passed, you may want to get into Giving Tuesday.

November 29 will mark Giving Tuesday; a worldwide occasion that encourages charitable donations.

In Madawaska Valley, the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation is getting involved. Executive Director Erin Gienow explains.

“As you know Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest shopping days of the year,” she says. “So Giving Tuesday really is a global movement to do better for each other through acts of kindness, whether it be vounteering, doing something kind for a neighbour or donating to your favourite charity.”

“We’ve had some matching sponsors step up, so all donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000. That’s thanks to the Palmer Rapids Lions Club, the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and we also have some very special unanimous donors as well.”

So, the foundation hopes, with the matches, to raise $30,000 in total. The money will go to its Tree of Lights campaign, which is funding an ultrasound for St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

You can donate through the Foundation’s website or by dropping into its office at the hospital.
