The Township of Madawaska Valley is ready to show off the new and improved Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.
An opening showcase event is set for Sunday, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Barry’s Bay arena, located at 65 Arena Rd.
A ribbon cutting-ceremony will take place at 12 noon. Then, the Barry’s Bay and Area Skating Club will give a demonstration at 12:15 p.m. A Barry’s Bay and Area Minor Hockey Association game takes place from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. And then, there’s a free public skate from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Township welcomed groups back to the centre earlier this week, after completing a roughly $1.8 million renovation to the rink. It started in the spring. The facility needed to replace aging infrastructure, including the cooling system for the ice pad.
