The Ace of Spades is still up for grabs in St. Francis Valley’s Healthcare Foundation’s popular fundraiser.
But the first weekly winner has been announced; Joe Fisher took home $556.
After his name was drawn he got to flip over a card and he got the Ace of … Clubs, meaning the lottery program will continue.
It’s called Catch the Ace and it operates like a 50-50 draw, only it also has a jackpot that grows bigger each week, until the Ace of Spades is found.
A portion of the $5 tickets being sold for the lottery will go to purchase new equipment at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, with other portions going to a weekly winner and the jackpot.
The five previous Catch the Ace lotteries run by the foundation have combined to raise more than a half million dollars for local health care needs.
