Bring your resume and your smile.
Alistair Baird, Manager of County of Renfrew Economic Development says that Thursday’s career fair in Barry’s Bay will include many employers from Renfrew County looking to hire. He says that Renfrew County is, geographically, the largest County in the province. He says that this makes it difficult for job seekers to know about all of the opportunities they have outside of their municipalities, which is why the career fair is so important.
After Arnprior, Pembroke, and Petawawa, he says that this is their fourth fair and that they always get a great response. Baird says that someone could talk to an employer from the manufacturing industry, the health industry, public service, and the list goes on. “It’s a one-stop shop for seekers and employers”. Baird even says that at a previous fair, one of the companies hired 8 employees in different fields. He adds that many employers offer jobs for seasonal work as well.
Jacklyn Stott, Information and Research Coordinator for County of Renfrew Economic Development says that seekers should get ready to talk. She says that, along with your updated resume, they should bring a list of questions they would like answered by a potential employer. She adds that every conversation with a potential employer is like a mini interview so people should come prepared to impress.
The fair starts at 12:30 PM on Thursday afternoon and goes till 6:00 PM at the Paul J Yakabuski Community Centre in Barry’s Bay. For more information, click here.
