Ice Conditions Cause Snowmobile Collision says Killaloe OPP

A snowmobile incident sent a man to the hospital last week.

Killaloe OPP Constable Catherine Yarmel says that last Thursday evening, March 7th, around 6:30, the OPP responded to a call involving a snowmobile collision. She says the collision happened on Opeongo River near Highway 60 and Spectacle Lake Road, in South Algonquin Township.

She says a 29 year old male, who was a passenger, was sent to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. Yarmel says that the sled struck a pressure crack on the ice which caused the passenger to be ejected off of the snowmobile.

She says that no other injuries were reported and reminds sledders to be careful due to the quickly changing ice conditions.
