A Fun Winter Weekend is Coming to Rankin

Fun winter activities won’t be what’s missing in Rankin this coming Saturday.

Muriel Verch, lead coordinator of the Rankin Winter Carnival invites Renfrew County residents to take part in many activities such as their pancake breakfast, tea boiling contests and adult wood activities (chainsaw speed cutting, nail driving). She also says that there will be a hockey game featuring NAW fire fighters against Whitewater Fire Department.

She says they’ve changed the formula from the last couple of years. They used to have the Carnival on both Saturday and Sunday but she says that in the past, they’ve had bad weather on Sundays and it was also harder to get volunteers to work for two days. Verch says that all funds will be going to the Rankin Culture and Recreation Centre which reinvests in other activities throughout the year. She points out that they got a new ice rink with boards two summers ago which still needs funding.
