The Phoenix Centre for Children and Families of Petawawa say they want to bring people together.
Executive Director of the centre, Greg Lubimiv says they are hosting an event to unite people of different cultures together for an evening of food and games. The potluck-style dinner invites everybody to bring a dish from their respective cultures.
He says that Renfrew County is not historically diverse but it is growing. He adds that the inclusion of diverse cultural groups is something to cherish.
Lubimiv says the end goal of the evening is to encourage the community to celebrate diversity in their everyday lives. He wants people to not shy away from helping or being helped by someone that’s different than them.
The event will be held on Wednesday November 28 at 5:00 PM at Valour JK-12 School in Petawawa. Admission is free. To reserve your spot, click here or call Project Coordinator Francesca Alexanian at 613-735-1251.
