The OPP want you to join their Christmas Angel Program.
Constable Shawn Peever of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says that anyone can walk in to their Pembroke or Petawawa detachment and ask for an angel which represents a child from Renfrew County who is living in poverty. You will then have the opportunity to provide your chosen angel with a gift of your choice.
Peever says the OPP works with different agencies that are in contact with many families from Renfrew County who are financially struggling.
He adds that a small gift can go a long way. While some of them may ask for toys, most of them would appreciate things others take for granted like toiletries, boots and socks.
Peever says you can even choose your angel by age and gender. The OPP says that gifts should be brought to their offices by December 3rd, so order to reach their destination for Christmas.
