UPDATE: Charges have been laid against a 72 year old male of Mississippi Mills. He’s been charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- Aggravated Assault
- Kidnapping
- Criminal Harassment
He will remain in custody until his bail hearing next week in Pembroke.
Renfrew OPP are investigating a serious assault in the Township of McNab Braeside.

The assault happened Thursday afternoon in the woods in McNab Braeside. Officers responded around 3 PM after they were called to the scene by Renfrew County Paramedics. The Paramedics had found an injured person in a bush on Gunsmith Road. Police later located a female with critical injuries who was taken to hospital.
A male at the scene was taken into custody. He was also treated at the hospital for a medical condition unrelated to the assault. He will appear in court Friday morning.
