Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is taking part in the annual “Kids and Cops” fishing derby this weekend.
The derby sees local OPP officers taking part in a fishing derby with local youth from the area. Constable Shawn Peever says that this event is a great chance for kids to view police officers in a positive light.
Peever says the event has always been a big hit with youth in the community, and expects more of the same this year.

The catch-and-release derby kicks off Saturday morning at 9:00am at the Pembroke Marina and runs until noon. While there’s no pre-registration required, youth are being urged to bring their own rods, reels, bait and an adult.
