Excitement is building in the Madawaska Valley ahead of this weekend’s Reunion Cup.
The tournament is taking the spot of the Opeongo Heritage Cup, which has been held in the area for at least a decade. Reunion Cup Organizer Chris Gienow says he’s heard nothing but good feedback about keeping the tradition going.
Gienow also says the community support from local businesses leading up to the tournament has been fantastic.

This year’s tournament will feature an all-new minor hockey division as well, with all funds going back into local minor hockey programs.
The first games get underway Thursday night at 6:30 at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre. You can find a full tournament schedule here.
