With clocks set to go ahead one hour this weekend, you’re being reminded to check the batteries in your smoke alarms.
That’s the message from Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade, who says residents are usually reminded to check their fire alarm batteries when the clocks change because it’s every six months.
Quade also reminds residents that they should make sure they have at least one fire alarm on each level of the house, as well as one outside of each bedroom.

If you haven’t already, he also suggests checking the expiry date on your fire alarms as they usually last about ten years before being replaced.
