MTO working to ensure all provincial highways are well-maintained

The Ministry of Transportation is working to make sure provincial highways are well-maintained for the rest of this winter.

MTO Official Bob Nichols says the ministry will continue working closely with Carillion Canada to ensure roads and highways in the Bancroft area are cleared. The MTO will continue to pay Carillion for the services it provides, and will monitor those funds to make sure employees and suppliers are paid.

This comes after NDP MPP Wayne Gates asked Premier Kathleen Wynne about the MTO’s new agreement with the company yesterday. He also asked if Carillion employees are still being paid for their services.

Carillion Canada’s UK-based parent company announced it would be going into liquidation protection last month. Carillion holds the winter maintenance contract for the Bancroft area, which extends into parts of Hastings, Haliburton, Renfrew, Peterborough, and Lennox and Addington counties.
