Local Snowmobile Trails Closed For The Season

Snowmobile trails in the area are officially closed for the season.

That’s according to the President of the Opeongo Snowbirds, Cheryl Reid, who says the club’s efforts to revive trails after recent rainfalls have been unsuccessful.

Reid says that it would take a very heavy snowfall in order to get trails open, which looks unlikely.

Reid also notes that you shouldn’t go against the trail status to ride on trails that are closed.

However, closing trails this early isn’t common. Reid says this is the worst winter for local snowmobiling in recent memory.

According to Reid, the Opeongo Snowbirds will be doing lots of work during the off-season to make sure trails are back up and running next winter.
