Muskrat Watershed Council Searching for Funding to Improve Water Quality

The Muskrat Watershed Council will have to keep looking for funding to improve water quality on the Muskrat Lake Watershed.

The MWC had been tipped about federal grants that may be able to help them with a cleanup in Muskrat Lake, but after looking into them, neither will be of much help.

One of those grants was the Great Lakes Protection Initiative, which Muskrat Lake does not qualify for because it is not considered an ‘area of concern’, according to representatives from the initiative.

The other was the EcoAction Community Funding Program, which the MWC is eligible for but the funding offered is limited, according to the council. They say they will still explore this option and consider how it could benefit the watershed.

The council says they will continue to search for other funding that could help the watershed.
