Friendly NHL Challenge to Result in a Donation to the Wilno Rink

A friendly NHL rivalry between friends is going to benefit the Wilno Rink.

Long-time friends Contance Leahy-Bersan, a Toronto Maple leafs fan, and Treena Utronkie, an Ottawa Senators fan, have a challenge in place about the result of Saturday’s game between the two teams in Toronto.

The challenge started when Utronkie told Leahy-Bersan she wasn’t able to attend the annual Moccasin Dance because she’d be in Toronto for the Leafs and Senators game on Saturday. That’s when the idea for the challenge came.

If Toronto wins, Utronkie says she’ll make a generous donation to the rink, but if Ottawa wins, she says it will be double. As for the donation amount, Utronkie says the amount isn’t important as it’s more about getting other people to follow suit with donations of their own.

Donating to the rink is something Utronkie says she’s wanted to do for a long time, and that this is a fun way to do so.

Leahy-Bersan says it the first time she’s ever rooted for Utronkie’s Senators against her Leafs.
