Algonquin Park is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

Algonquin was founded on May 23rd, 1893, making it the first provincial park in Ontario. Since then, Ontario Parks has expanded to include over 300 more parks including Lake St. Peter and Bonnechere Provincial Parks, which both opened in 1971.

Ontario Parks says there will be events held across Ontario to celebrate the milestone, and to give you a chance to discover something new, and contribute to science.
