Warming station to be set up in local church

St. Paul’s United Church in Bancroft is trying something new to help those in need get out of the cold.

Reverend Lynn Watson says a warming station will be set up in the church’s basement tomorrow and on Saturday. Watson says the idea was pitched by North Hastings Community Trust, to make sure people in the community stay warm.

Watson says she will put a pot of soup on, and will be making coffee and tea. She says this is not just for those in need, but anyone who wants to come out and enjoy spending time with other North Hastings residents.

However, Watson says she could use a hand from anyone willing and able to volunteer.

The warming station will be open from 9:00am until 4:00pm tomorrow and on Saturday. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Watson by calling (613) 334-2168, or just showing up at St. Paul’s on either day.
