The cold weather that’s been plaguing the area recently is not expected to go away any time soon.
That’s according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson, who says local temperatures since Boxing Day have been well below the seasonal average of minus five for this time of year. During that time, the wind chill was close to minus 35, sparking extreme cold warnings in the area. Coulson says there could be more of these warnings in the near future.
Coulson says temperatures are expected to warm-up a bit towards the end of the weekend, but it will be short lived.
Coulson is reminding everyone to dress in layers when cold weather strikes.
