Police remind you be careful while sledding after crash in Tudor and Cashel

A Tudor and Cashel man was hurt after a snowmobile crash in the township.

That’s according to Central Hastings OPP, which says officers started investigating the crash on the Hastings Heritage Trail on December 29th. A groomer reported it to police, after finding a damaged snowmobile on the trail. Police say a 30-year-old was found at a home a little while after, and was brought to hospital.

Constable Lisa Robson says the OPP hopes to reduce the number of collisions involving snowmobiles this year. If you plan on sledding, she says it’s important to avoid unnecessary risks, be prepared for the unexpected, and make smart decisions based on the weather conditions at hand.

Robson says it’s also important to ride in good conditions for visibility.

Robson says riding in the dark can bring its own unique challenges, so it’s important to stay vigilant.

Robson also reminds riders to always let someone know where they are going, and to never drink alcohol before sledding.
